| The National Marine Fisheries Service
sets annual quotas for most popular fish species. Up to 3% of most
quotas is allocated for research. This research set-aside is
either used directly for research or auctioned off to finance research.
Until 2007 only commercial vessels participated in the auction.
For 2008 we have acquired a significant amount of RSA
Fluke. The NMFS has issued the Laura Lee an "exempted fishery
permit" to harvest RSA Fluke. The New York State DEC has issued the
Laura Lee a license to "collect and possess" research set-aside Fluke.
This permits will allow us to fish for Fluke after the Fluke season has
ended. We will be Fluking Thursday. Saturday and Sunday in September

complete schedule
The size and bag limits are unchanged. The only
condition is the Fluke must be cleaned at the dock after weighing.
We have spent considerable time and money to participate in the RSA
program and will be charging slighty higher fares for these trips.
If these trips prove popular we may be able to acquire RSA for other
species to fish during season closures.
We hope to see you in September.
